this series is loosely based on the anime: ash aspires to be a pokémon master, and together with the various friends and pokémon that travel with him, embark on many adventures. note: the manga was heavily edited and censored by viz since its original content was found too “offensive” by the american public and was made more “kid-friendly” (even though it was a kodomo manga to begin with!).
